Varanda Restaurante is a trendy restaurant specializing in contemporary seafood and northeastern Brazilian cuisine, located on the touristy island of Fernando de Noronha - Pernambuco, Brazil. The space is rustic, cozy, and has stunning views of the sea. The social media, press, design, and communications of the restaurant are managed by Agência 1Post, with me as the lead designer. I have been in charge of the brand identity for about five years.
During this period, I have been in charge of creating the identities of Varanda's many events and festivals, such as Carnival, Christmas, High Summer, Valentine's, and many more. When I first started with the client, most of their printed materials were not available on digital and I was responsible for re-vectorize their logo, and original artwork from various artists that contributed to their materials and most of their CIS, like the art above.
The color palette for the restaurant uses a deep shade of blue, close to a lapis lazuli and navy shades, along with hints of orange and yellow. White is also heavily used as the brand mixes rustic with minimalist approaches. The idea behind the brand is to showcase joy and vivacity in a sophisticated way, without losing the authenticity of the restaurant. That is the reason I chose to work with deconstructed and free forms as graphic elements in contrast with plain backgrounds in strong colors.
Recently, I led the design, layout, and prototype of their new website along with a web developer outsourced by 1Post. I also am responsible for updating their online and offline menu occasionally.
Their social media presence is managed by the CEO and is more focused on photographs. When needed, we produce cards and stories with photo interventions or graphic art and text. Some work samples can be seen below showcasing some social media, digital design, and print collaterals produced in the last year.
